Our Helpline work ranges from supporting a parent seeking advice on a young child who is bed-wetting, through to assisting a parent to deal with an aggressive teenager. The helpline also arranges appointments and takes calls from parents or professionals who have serious child protection concerns. |
Cases in 2007 included ...
- A family 'falling apart' due to their teenage sons aggression which was becoming out of control
- A young mother struggling to cope with three children under the age of four
- A concerned grandmother worried about her 15 year old grandaughter staying out all night
- A dad, recently separated wanting guidance on how to maintain a good relationship with his family
The Parenting Project
For the Parenting Project, the main issues which concerned the parents attending courses in 2007 were: managing children's and teenagers challenging behaviour; dealing with separation and divorce; parents anger management; building positive relationships; communication breakdown; coping with personal and family stress; self-esteem issues.
The Men's Project
During 2007, The Men's Project responded to requests from individuals and groups looking for help to: gain access to children following family break-up; locate support for lone fathers; find sources of relationship counselling; identify men's support groups; manage anger; cope with bereavement; "come out"; understand entitlement to paternity leave; recover from domestic abuse; become more actively involved parents; mediate family disputes. |
