Statistics on PAC's Service: 2009
Parents Helpline
Parents Helpline had 5,187 contacts in 2009. Of these, 4,112 were phone calls to the Freephone Helpline, 925 were appointments and 150 were requests by email/letter. The problems most frequently dealt with continue to be family tension, aggression, separation and child development. In March 2009 an outreach service was launched in 6 locations across Northern Ireland and has had 204 appointments.
Parenting Education
During 2008 our team of facilitators spread across Northern Ireland facilitated parenting courses for parents and professionals in over 30 organisations across Northern Ireland and 10 courses for parents across PAC's two branches. The duration of these programmes included one-off sessions to 10 week courses and focused on anger management, handling teenagers, parenting apart, managing children's challenging behaviour and positive parenting. Parenting Education also piloted a new Flatpack Guide for Fathers a 4-week programme aimed at fathers it was designed and planned to emphasis their important role within the family.
Parenting Forum Northern Ireland
The Parenting Forum Northern Ireland's (PFNI) external evaluation for 2006 showed that they had been commissioned to carry out five issue-led consultations with parents to access their views. Through this process, a total of 46 consultation exercises took place, and the views of 426 parents were recorded. PFNI acts as the lead body for National Parents' Week and, during October, coordinated and promoted over 180 events throughout Northern Ireland.
The Men's Project
During 2008, The Men's Project ...
- directed 118 individuals to sources of help and support at times of difficulty or crisis in their lives
- assisted 131 external agencies to locate appropriate resources, support, research and contacts to develop their work with men
- offered a seven month package of training, support, reflection and practical action to 15 organisations wishing to initiate and consolidate their work with fathers
- maintained an information portal website for men's work in the north of Ireland. This site attracted almost 140,000 page impressions (over one million "hits").
