Volunteering

Parents Advice Centre's (PAC) Freephone Helpline and Appointment service is operated by trained Helpline Volunteers.

Every year we recruit and select Helpline Volunteers for an accredited preparation course to enable them to respond to callers. The Helpline Volunteers who successfully complete this course join the organisation in one of our four branches.

Helpline Volunteers are also required to undertake skills development workshops to ensure that their knowledge is refreshed.

Our Helpline Volunteers give a high level of commitment to the organisation. This involves one morning, afternoon or evening per week on the Helpline and Appointment service, undertaking supervision sessions, and attending skills development workshops.

PAC highly values the contribution of these Helpline Volunteers, and encourages suggestions from them as to how their role could be better supported and recognised.

When Helpline Volunteers leave PAC, they often bring their experience to similar fields of work.

Helpline Volunteers have opportunities to input into the development plans of PAC and to attend events on behalf of the organisation.
